Karrin Allyson, a world-renowned jazz singer and a great friend to KPLU, has released a new album of some of her favorite songs from the musicals of Rodgers & Hammerstein—musicals that include “Oklahoma!”, “The King And I” and “The Sound Of Music”.

Every year when Karrin pays her annual visit to Seattle’s Jazz Alley, we invite her to come to KPLU for a studio session, always hosted by her old pal, Dick Stein.

This year, she brought along bassist Jeff Johnson and guitarist Rod Fleeman and gave us four songs from the new CD and chatted with Stein about their favorite Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals.

Songs:

1:  Many A New Day

2:  I Have Dreamed

3:  You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught

4:  Edelweiss
