322 Back In The KNKX Studios

322 brought their youthful energy and exuberance back to the KNKX studios this month with an electrifying set of neo-instrumental jazz.    Their new CD is out September 8th and it’s loaded with originals.

Although the group is grounded in classic jazz they are widely influenced by music ranging from progressive rock to hip hop.  The group works collaboratively in songwriting and that can be heard in the tight harmonics between sax and guitar.  The first tune they played for this studio session was “Vibin” by saxophonist BrandonLee Cierley and guitarist Elliott Turner which featured tight structural harmonies.  The second piece they played was “Fundamental Flow” written by drummer Thomas Horn.  322 concluded the session with “Reputation” written by bassist Josh Bozich.   Keyboardist Joshua VanCleave rounds out the tight energetic group.

In each piece you could hear that the group had carefully honed the shape of each tune including surprising melodic structures and dynamic rhythm changes.  Look for good things from 322 as they perform and tour in support of their upcoming CD.
