Ken Fowser – Resolution

Ken Fowser -- Jazz Generation

Tenor saxophonist, Ken Fowser, previously known for his string of leader and co-leader albums on Posi-Tone Records, is striking out on jazz drummer and producer Willie Jones III’s label, WJ3 Records, with his sixth album as a leader:  Resolution.

Resolution is the inspired eight song collection featuring trumpeter Jeremy Pelt and Peter Bernstein on the front line, with the rhythm section filled out by pianist Rick Germanson, bassist Gerald Cannon, and drummer, Willie Jones III.  Resolution marks another leap forward for the restrained, elegant saxophonist and composer.

Ken Fowser — Resolution. Released April 21, 2023

Not only are Fowser’s original tunes highly noteworthy – the propulsive, searching “Reminiscent of You”, heavily swinging, “T.B.D.” and percolating When It’s All Over” – the masterful guitar, tenor saxophone and trumpet frontline provides a fresh avenue for this leading light of the music.

As JazzTimes once put it, “His compositions are honed to their essence; his solos combine fresh lyricism and firm pocket”  And this holds true for an album conceived during the global trauma of the pandemic lockdown.
